Originally known as "Tango no Sekku" (Boy’s Day), this festival dates back centuries. Families fly koinobori (carp streamers) outside and display samurai helmets or armor inside to drive away evil and celebrate their children’s future.

Today, this tradition honors the health, happiness, and prosperity of both boys and girls, and remains a cherished part of Japan’s Golden Week holidays.
